It's that time again! The teacher sign-ups are in the classroom hallway outside the 2/3 classroom. If you don't know what your plans are for Memorial Day 2011, that's OK - right now, it's about signing up 6 teachers in each classroom. Many people are flexible about their teaching schedule, so we can work it out over the summer.
We use The Whole People of God as our curriculum. It provides everything you need for a
lesson - the prayer, the story, the activity, and the closing. Or you're welcome to think outside
the box - do a Unit on World Religions, or the culture or cooking or storytelling, or whatever
you have personal interest in. You do NOT have to have a kid in Sunday School, and you do
NOT need to teach your kids' grade.
Each Unit is about 6 weeks long, and we have plenty of subs if something comes up. We strive
for consistency in the classroom, but recognize that we all have busy lives and different ways
of teaching. Some teachers never get to the activity because they enjoy the discussions too
much. Some teachers do Unit-long activities. Your way is a great way!
If you have any questions or would like to see the curriculum, please see Nancy True. She will
not take your inquiry as a sign that you're actually volunteering. It's also helpful to chat with
someone who's taught before or any member of Christian Ed - Wendy Dion, Stacey Hinckley,
Tammy Freeman, Linda Currivan, Robin Clapp, and Deb Johnson. They'll tell you it's not as
hard as it looks, it's actually a lot of fun, and it's a great way to help your kids.
